Thank you for stopping by! I’m so glad you’re here 🙂
My name is Sareeta, and I am a twenty-something hailing from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I recently graduated from university in Alberta, with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education in Drama and English, and am now doing my best at adulting.
Welcome to Flight & Scarlet!
Here at Flight & Scarlet, I want to help you become the best person you can be. To do that, I share my process of living and learning an empowered life, including how I try to be a better feminist in my daily life. I want to help you learn about yourself so that you can find your purpose.
Since feminism is really important to who I am and my purpose, I use my website o also help people who are interested in feminism learn more about it. You’ll find topics like sex and consent and queer issues too. I make scary ideas more accessible and less elitist, so that people like you and I can understand and discuss them!
I’m in the process of restructuring my blog, so right now you’ll see a lot about my process of healing after my sexual assault, as well as a lot of information about what feminism is to me. But if that’s not your jam no biggie… you’ll soon see more about college life, including relationships, responsible shopping, sexual and mental health, and even saving money. All of this to help you find your purpose and your place in the world. Let’s do this together!
Lastly, I also offer virtual services to bloggers, like social media management and graphic design. If this is something you’re interested in, see my Services page here.
My readers, which includes young women and mothers, most enjoy my relaxed and friendly tone because it appeals to people who might not have studied it extensively. If you don’t know much about feminism or you aren’t really sure about it, I think you and I will get along just fine.
While I share what I learn, I don’t know everything. Especially with feminism, the most important thing is to talk about and educate others, so that it can becomes more accessible and less intimidating. Feminism is an evolving concept, and you really can never stop learning about it.

Why I Started This Blog
During my studies, I took two classes related to feminism: one that was a review of several theoretical and philosophical texts, and later another that looked specifically at the portrayal of women in pornography.
After the first class, I was honestly really sick of feminism, as much as I always believed in equality. I was simply tired of the rage and aggressiveness of it all, and avoided the topic at all costs.
But after that second class, which I took in my final year of university, I became more interested in the topic once more. I realized that feminism had shut me out because of how elite it was, and I decided that I would learn as much as I could about it so that I could make it more accessible for others.
So I am no expert on feminism — I’m actually fairly new to it.
But I want to share my process of discovering feminism and how my beliefs fit it, because I discovered that is totally a good cause: it’s misunderstood, but it’s just about equality. BUT there is a lot of pressure to define your feminism or align yourself with one type of feminism — and that can be intimidating, especially when you are new to it all.
I hope that this blog helps you learn more about yourself and your beliefs. I hope that it can be that safe place where you can discuss them, because while I’m sharing my thoughts and what I do to be a better feminist, I know I don’t know everything. (Is that even possible?)
I also want you know that if you have experienced sexual assault, you are not alone.

Why “Flight & Scarlet,” you ask?
Flight relates to a journey and freedom, while scarlet signifies power and emotion.
This blog has been my outlet as I find my way to freedom from my sexual assault, and from the depths of loss. Through this I have gained so much strength. It only made sense to me to title it accordingly.
(It’s also from my Pottermore username minus the random numbers. Yes, I’m a nerd. #always)
A Little More About Me
Aside from being a blogger, I am a theatre nerd and movie lover who loves a good dose of thought-provoking entertainment with a hint of sarcasm. I am also a new teacher — a substitute teacher taking a break from full-time teacher work, and actually attempting to have a life!
On a lighter note.. growing up, I had major stomach issues which resulted in my current sweet potato and ginger ale aversion. I love Netflix, reading, going for walks, and playing with my new kitten. (This includes singing to him. Sometimes I sing to real live people at bars as well!) I also love discussion and getting to know people — so please feel free to comment all over my blog and get to know me!
I also work as a virtual assistant for fellow bloggers — I do social media management, graphic design, proofreading, and more. (Interested? Find out more about my services here.)
* And if you’re wondering, in older posts, “G” isn’t some gangsta bro I mention for fun. He’s my amazing significant other. (Aww.) His name is Grady — I only recently revealed my identity though, so in old posts he’s still G.
The best way to stay connected with me is through my free email newsletter. You’ll get access to the Awesome Feminist Resource Library, a bi-weekly update from yours truly, as well as links to all my latest blog posts, either daily or weekly.
You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, where I share lots of fun links about feminism, sex & consent, and queer issues, as well as kitty photos and other inspiration, every day. Of course, you always are welcome to email me directly at email@example.com — I’d love to hear from you!
