First time visiting Flight & Scarlet? Nice to meet you!
My name is Sareeta, and I’m the blogger behind Flight & Scarlet. This started out as a personal blog just for me to work out my issues, but as I wrote more and more, I realized that feminism is where my passions lie, as is helping others learn more about it.
I hate how elitist feminism is, and how people typically see feminists as raging women who will argue about anything.
And I want to change that.
I want to make feminism fun, not preachy.
I want to make it accessible to people who might not have spent years reading academic papers about it. I mean, feminism is supposed to help and represent people of all walks of life, right?
So that’s what this blog is about.
I aim to help people who are interested in feminism to learn more about it.
I know that the most important thing is to educate others about these topics, so that feminism becomes more accessible and less intimidating. Feminism is an evolving concept, and you can never stop learning about it.
And I myself am no expert on feminism — I’m actually fairly new to it!
I am reading as much as I can about feminism, and have taken a couple university courses about it, but that’s about it.
I’m still figuring out what kind of feminist I am.
And I want to share that process.
So much of the time, when you say you are feminist, there is a lot of pressure to define yourself, which can be intimidating and frustrating, especially when you are new to it all.
I want this blog to be that safe place where you can learn more about feminism and discuss your thoughts, because I believe that everyone should feel safe talking about it.
Why “Flight & Scarlet,” you ask?
Flight relates to a journey and freedom, while scarlet signifies power and emotion.
This blog has been my outlet as I find my way to freedom from my sexual assault, and from the depths of loss. Through this I have gained so much strength. It only made sense to me to title it accordingly.
(It’s also from my Pottermore username minus the random numbers. Yes, I’m a nerd. #always)
If you’d like to stick around with me for a while, start with the following posts.
Check out some of the posts in each of those categories below — then you can decide if you want to really stick around with me or not!

Obviously the main topic, here are three of my post popular posts!
On Sex & Consent:
I have been opening up about my personal experience with sexual assault, as I go through the process of healing. I want to share this to help anyone else who might be experiencing something similar, because you need to know that you are not alone. I’ve also written posts about consent, because of course, consent is key when it comes to healthy sexual relationships and I want to help make sure what happened to me doesn’t happen to others.
You can start with the following posts:
On Queer Issues:
I’m queer, and I know that my experience as a woman is different because of that. I’ve begun writing more posts about LGBTQUIA+ topics, and hope to write more!
Here are two popular posts on this topic:
Race & Culture:
I plan to write more about my experience as a woman of colour in the future!
