Despite my hesitation to call myself bi, I call myself bi to simplify it for others. I don’t really fit in with the LGBTQ+ community, but one thing that is particularly noticeable is how straight people react to me. There are quite a few things people say to bi women, which really should never be said to them… but they still are said.
These are things straight people have said to me IRL, and really shouldn’t have.
(Read: things you should NOT say to bisexual women. Ever.)
“But like, do you picture yourself with a man or a woman?”
Apparently if I pick a man I’m not ACTUALLY bi. And if I pick a woman I’m lesbian, not bi right? Well, I picture myself with G who is male so feel free to make your judgments while I sit here not caring.
“It’s not really fair for you to be jealous. I mean, you’re into everyone.”
No. I am not. Just like you aren’t into every person of the opposite sex.
“Oh, he must really love you. *wink, wink* Have you ever kissed a girl in front of him?”
I’m not bi for his entertainment.
“You must like that he’s straight, not as much for you to compete against!”
He likes me, I don’t need to compete.
“Isn’t it kind of unfair to him?”
“Do you ever talk about girls?”
Yes. We have argued over our different tastes. This happens among straight people too. Except I don’t get mad, I just judge his tastes ?
“Omg have you ever had a threesome with a girl?!”
Also, did you know straight people have threesomes too?
And that being bi doesn’t mean I automatically want threesomes?
Not every bi person wants one, and even if they did want one, it’s not like they go around asking everyone.
So… maybe one day.
But still none of your business, because would you ask your straight female friend that same question?
Didn’t think so.
Not bi to be more attractive to you.
“Are you sure?”
Hmmm… I’ll get back to you on that one.
I should add: when people ask me genuine questions I’m not usually sarcastic… but it’s the judgmental and condescending questions that give rise to my sassy side. So if you have a real curious question, I promise I won’t attack!
What do people question you about that drives you bonkers?
